Valpelline

The town of Valpelline counts fewer than 700 residents and rests on the floor of a broad meadowed valley just a few kilometres from Aosta. A short 15-minute car drive bring you here from the chief town of the region, and is a strategic point for reaching Ollomont. This small village situated higher up offers pleasant hiking trails and fun for the children in the snowpark. Alternatively, in the direction of Oyace and Bionaz, you reach Place Moulin reservoir whose bright green water reflect the glaciers that feed it.

For the less sporty, this area lends itself perfectly to sweet relaxation, with perhaps a spot of reading outside on the ample lawn that surrounds the house, or discovering local products such as Fontina cheese, the king of Valdostan cheeses matured in the disused mine adjacent to Valpelline Visitors’ Centre.

Valle d'Aosta

Winter sport devotees will definitely enjoy a day of relaxation at Crévacol ski area which, despite being small enjoys hours of sunshine. Alternatively, several extra kilometres will take you to the Pila ski resort on a wonderful snow-clad terrace on the hillside behind the city of Aosta.

In summer, the area surrounding Valpelline offers almost limitless leisure opportunities: biking, climbing, local village festivals and gastronomic events. If you seize the chance of exploring the array of events and recreational opportunities on offer in the Great St Bernard Valley, then you certainly won’t have to travel far.
